true and touching story
heard this story in church from ps shaw last week.thought i'd share it with all of you. It's a true story from China. Get your kleenex ready...
The children at sunday school were interrupted by men carrying guns in suits. The time has come. Their sunday school teacher had warned them something like that might happen one day. The little children were brought to the back of a truck and were driven off.
Naturally, they were scared. Then, one little kid started to sing. Soon, all the children began to pick up the tune. Even when they reached the police station, the children walked in singing all the way,
"In the name of Jesus,
In the name of Jesus,
We have the victory.
In the name of Jesus,
In the name of Jesus,
Demons will run and flee."
This was how strong their faith was in Jesus. The children were forced to write "I do not believe in Jesus." a 100 times. But instead, each and every one of them wrote "I believe in Jesus. He is my Lord and Saviour and I will believe in Him forever."
Their parents were soon rung up to pick their children up from the station. But before they were released, their parents had to deny Jesus. They had to confess aloud that they did not believe in Jesus. Many of their parents, being non-believers, quickly did what they had to do to get their children back.
Then came a widow. She wanted to pick up her twin sons.
"Say that you do not believe in Jesus and your sons will be released," the officer told the widow.
But the widow replied,"That I cannot do."
"If you don't say it, we will keep your children locked up."
The widow responded,"Well then, I guess you'll have to keep my twins in prison because I won't deny Jesus. He was the one who has brought us through the tough times when my husband died. Without Him, I wouldn't be here today."
The officers replied in disgust, "Aah, take your sons and leave."
With that, the twins were released to their mother.
Can we ever have that child-like faith in us? Faith that Jesus will bring us through the toughest and scariest times, without doubting for one second that it might not happen? without having a back-up plan at the back of our heads for when it does not happen?
It's tough. Sometimes, I can't either. I wish with all my heart that I can. But sometimes, there's already a plan B at the back of my mind when I'm crying out to God for help. I hope and pray that one day, I'll be able to put complete faith in God, just like those of the children, to bring me through good times and bad times..
